As part of our ethos of involving parents in the education of their children we were visited from some science specialists from the University of Manchester who are trying to help children to consider careers in science. The afternoon was over-subscribed, which was very encouraging. Everyone had a great time and felt that there were activities that they could try at home. From the feedback sheets and evaluations we found that all the parents and children really enjoyed themselves and everyone felt as though they had learnt something new. Definitely something to be repeated!
Following the launch of our Harry Potter staircase and new initiative of freely available books in the white cupboards for pupils to access at any time, we were extremely happy to find a selection of pupils spontaneously reading over lunchtime!
In the week before half term we held our first creative week of this academic year. Over the course of the week our pupils ‘visited’ Africa, America, Europe, Asia, China and beyond and took part in many creative activities including drumming, cooking, crafts, singing, science experiments plus lots more! To see photos and details of the activities that went on during the week please click here.
We have also recorded some video responses from some of the pupils in our year groups which can be viewed by clicking on the links below;
Our next creative week will be Monday 9th February to Friday 13th February and is entitled ‘All the World’s a Stage.’ This will be a whole school Shakespeare inspired week. The assembly on Friday 13th February will be a longer one, as each class shows something they have learned during the week.
